In each Higher Education Institution, by decision of the Board of Directors, an Ethics Committee is established, which consists of four (4) members of academic staff of the university, who belong to different faculties of the university as far as possible and one of the Vice-Rectors who is the Chairman of the Committee. The term of office of the Committee is two years.

The Ethics Committee has in particular the following responsibilities:

1. a) Prepares the “Code of Ethics and Good Practice” for academic, administrative and research matters, which is approved by the Senate and incorporated into the Internal Regulations of the Institution.
2. b) Ensures compliance and implementation of the rules of ethics by all members of the Institution and identifies violations of the rules of ethics.
3. c) Prepares an annual report on the compliance and implementation or the need to revise the rules of ethics, which is submitted to the Rector and notified to the Senate of the relevant Institution at the beginning of each academic year.
4. d) Examines, ex officio or following a written report, complaints from students, faculty members, members of the Special Educational Service, members of the laboratory and teaching staff, researchers, visiting lecturers and administrative staff in matters within its competence, in order to ascertain the violation of the rules of ethics or investigates relevant incidents following an order from the Rector. If a violation of the rules of ethics is ascertained or during the investigation a disciplinary offence is ascertained, the relevant findings are sent to the Rector, in order for him to evaluate the incident and take the legal measures.
5. e) Prepares the “Regulation on Conflict of Interest and Protocols for Dealing with Fraud and Corruption Incidents” in collaboration with the Student Ombudsman of article 130 of Law 4957 of 2022, which is approved by decision of the Board of Directors and incorporated into the Internal Regulations of the Institution.

By decision of the Senate, the Code of Ethics and Good Practice of Hellenic Mediterranean University has been approved.

In addition to the above, Hellenic Mediterranean University’s staff must mention in each publication the academic unit they serve under the full Greek or foreign title of the Hellenic Mediterranean University. Specifically, the names that must be used are the following:
