Mission of the Hellenic Mediterranean University

The mission of the Hellenic Mediterranean University as a public University lies primarily in the following axes: (a) quality education of students, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level, (b) conducting systematic, quality research and implementing high-level doctoral studies, (c) continuous interaction with society, institutions and the productive forces of the country, as well as (d) cultivating among students and society the principles of democracy, equality, progress, social cohesion, solidarity and justice.

  1. Education: Systematic upgrading of curricula with emphasis on developments in science, the application of new technologies and modern teaching methods. Interaction with social, professional and economic actors to adapt curricula to the modern needs of society and economy at local, national and international level. Internationalization of studies and systematic efforts to increase international student and staff mobility.
  2. Research: Strengthening research by pursuing the implementation of research programs, renewing infrastructure, and sharing research infrastructure at local, national and international levels. Promoting laboratories, institutes and the University Research Center as centers of research excellence that will attract and support young researchers and promote the University at national and international levels.
  3. Interconnection with society and the economy: Continuous interaction with social, self-governing and productive bodies with the aim, on the one hand, of utilizing the knowledge produced at the University by society and, on the other hand, of familiarizing members of the University community with the issues and real problems that concern society and the economy.
  4. Cultivation of principles: The University must, over time, contribute in every way to the cultivation of the principles of democracy, equality and social justice among students and society. This effort must be continuous through actions, interventions and events in the university and social space.
